Two remain in jail on charges in significant drug bust

A significant drug bust landed two people in jail on Monday in Knox County.

Knox County Deputy Mikey Ashurst was patrolling in the Corbin Bypass area of Knox County about 4 a.m. when he observed a black Toyota pickup parked near a concrete plant.

According to the report, Ashurst checked the vehicle and found about 2 pounds of crystal methamphetamine and one pound of marijuana, several oxycodone tablets, several suboxone strips, a loaded handgun, a set of digital scales, a “meth” pipe and more than $8,000 in cash.

The driver of the vehicle, Joe Barlow Owens, 43, of Blacksburg, S.C., and passenger Stephanie Brock, 34, of Rockholds, were both placed under arrest and taken to the Knox County Detention Center.

Owens was charged with trafficking in controlled substance first degree methamphetamine, possession of controlled substance first degree, possession of controlled substance second degree, possession of firearm by convicted felon, trafficking in marijuana over eight ounces, possession of drug paraphernalia, public intoxication controlled substance, and attempted bribery of a public servant.

Brock was charged with trafficking in controlled substance first degree methamphetamine, possession of controlled substance first degree, possession of controlled substance second degree, trafficking in marijuana over eight ounces, possession of drug paraphernalia, and public intoxication controlled substance.

Owens and Brock both remain in the Knox County Detention Center.

Owens has a $10,000 cash bond on the charge of methamphetamine possession and no bond on the various other charges. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 5.

Brock has a $5,000 cash bond on the charge of public intoxication controlled substance and no bond on the other charges. She is scheduled to appear in court on March 5.
