Annual Fall Fest to kick off

Fall is the time of year many look forward to with the heat from summer dying off and the change in the leaves signifying the end of the year, where a wide range of season-based activities and events are usually held.

Fall is also the marker for the season of seasons. Once the leaves start to change, and the sweaters and pull-overs come out, the holidays are always right around the corner.

To mark this occasion, the annual Cumberland Mountain Fall Festival is set to kick off in Middlesboro.

From Sept. 29 through Oct. 1, the community will be able to enjoy a wide array of fun events and activities provided by the festival.

The big headliner for this year’s entertainment is Craig Campbell, a rising star in the world of country music who hit the scene in 2011. According to his official website, Campbell has had five charting hits to date and sits at over half a million downloads.

With Campbell set to perform and all of the artists who have taken the stage at this year’s Levitt AMP Middlesboro Music Series, 2017 has proven to be a watershed year for musical entertainment for the city.

Campbell will hit the stage on Sept. 30, but he won’t be the only live music for the festival. Guns N’ Roses cover band, It’s So Easy, will perform on Sept. 29 and the Gospel band, The Singing Cookes, will perform on Oct. 1.

Moonshine has a long and storied heritage that dates back all the way to after the Revolution, making it a distinctly American heritage as well. A piece of that history will be shown on Sept. 30 at 6 p.m. when Mark and Digger from the hit television show “Moonshiners” will give a live demonstration for the crowd.

The Fall Festival will also have a wide array of food vendors and craft booths for people to enjoy as well as a special area set up with games, inflatables and more.
