The 43rd annual Dillion Asher REUNION will be held Oct. 6-7. The reunion will be held on Friday in the Ray Harm Room at Pine Mountain State Resort Park in Pineville with dinner from 5:30-7 p.m. in the dining room of the lodge, and a social gathering and business meeting at 7 p.m. On Saturday, the reunion will be held at Cardinal House in Queendale (close to Dillion Asher’s log cabin). There will be an all-day potluck picnic beginning at noon (bring a covered dish). Attendees are encouraged to bring old photos, albums or any information you would like to share with the genealogical family to the reunion. Pine Mountain State Resort Park will host FLY FISHING WEEKEND Nov. 11-12. Learn to fly fish — choosing equipment, fly selection, reading a stream, casting, hooking and landing a fish in the solitude of the autumn mountains. Participants will receive one night’s lodging, Saturday continental breakfast and Sunday stream side lunch. Give Me a Reason (GMAR) is designed for parents/guardians to use to talk with their children and randomly test them, which gives them a reason to say no when tempted or offered drugs. The American RED CROSS is seeking volunteers with flexible schedules to respond to single and multi-family home fires in the Lake Cumberland service area which includes Casey, Adair, Cumberland, Clinton, Russell, Pulaski, Wayne, McCreary, Whitley, Laurel, Clay, Knox, Bell and Harlan counties. Red Cross Disaster Action Team (DAT) volunteers respond to assist families with shelter, support and access to basic needs immediately following a home fire – often arriving on scene even as the fire is still burning.
