Bell Co. receives over $100K LGEDF

FRANKFORT — The Department for Local Government (DLG) approved the award of $139,674 in Local Economic Development Fund (LGEDF)/Single County Coal Severance funds to Bell County Fiscal Court for the reimbursement of county operations, county insurance, health insurance and county retirement.

“I am pleased that these coal severance funds have been awarded to Bell County for the reimbursement of county operations and insurance. This allocation of resources is a smart, focused stewardship of the needs in the county and will go a long way in ensuring that the county’s fiduciary responsibilities are met, ” said DLG Commissioner Sandra Dunahoo.

“In the past, these coal severance funds have benefited the county in various ways. I am glad that these dollars have been made available to assist the county in insurance and retirement funding,” said Sen. Brandon Smith.

“I am thankful to DLG and Bell County officials for this wise stewardship and investment of coal severance dollars that is able to reimburse the county’s insurance and retirement obligations. This will ensure that the county can better serve the community with its resources in the days ahead,” said state Rep. Rick Nelson.

The LGDEF/Single County Coal Severance awards are made under the parameters of HB303. HB303 appropriated coal severance funds for projects that have the concurrence of the respective county judge-executive, state representatives and state senators.
