The Friends of the Middlesboro Public Library will host its annual Fall Book Sale and Quilt Show in the Beverly Greene Community Room at the Middlesboro Public Library.

The library hosts two book sale events a year. One in the spring and one during the fall. It has become something of a tradition for local book lovers.

The event has been going strong for a decade, and the communities interest in supporting their local library has yet to wane. In the age of the internet and digital books and book reading devices such as the Kindle, support of local libraries is much needed.

Librarian Bonnie Banks states “It’s wonderful to see the support of the community who come out and buy our books…it gives you a good feeling to see the books not be recycled and go to a wonderful home where they will be appreciated. The people who come into the sale are always very excited to go through the books and to take home some treasures.”

The sale welcomes both children and adults with a wide variety of books for all ages.

“We have people call us weeks in advance or months in advance asking when the book sale is,” said Banks.

There are several thousand books and other items on sale to choose from.

Friends of the Middlesboro Library members may shop early on Sept. 26. Non-members will be able to shop on Sept. 27-29 and Oct. 2-4.

The book sale is open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday-Friday.

Proceeds and donations from the book sale will provide benefits for the library, including new books, CDs, DVDs, youth programming, adult reading programs, refreshments for various local author events, and more.
