Down by 13 points early, the Middlesboro Yellow Jackets battled back and pushed Williamsburg to the final seconds before falling 65-64 on Friday in the Wildcat Classic at Lynn Camp High School.
Conner Saylor scored 18 and Andrew Smith added 17 to lead Williamsburg.
Bryson Brooks paced Middlesboro with 21 points. Joseph Killion added 13.
“That was a tough one to swallow. I was so proud of how resilient this team is. We never stopped playing when we were down 16-3,” said Middlesboro coach John Wheat. “We fought our way back to only be down 20-13 at the end of the first. Bryson Brooks and Joseph Killion continue to be red hot from 3. Garrison Warren played really well. Our defense is starting to click as a whole.”

Joseph Killion’s 29-point explosion was not enough for Middlesboro to avoid defeat Saturday in a 63-50 loss to Model to close tournament play.
Bryson Brooks added six for the Jackets, followed by Mekhi Young with four and Aiden Larew and Ayden Allen with three each. Garrison Warren and Jacob Tinnell each scored two. Caden Lawson added one.
