Lee County Healthy Days free clinic set for Sept. 5-6

Several organizations and providers are teaming up to provide free medical, dental, and vision services to those in need at the second annual Lee County Healthy Days on September 5th and 6th in Pennington Gap, Virginia.
The Central Appalachia Health Wagon, Appalachian Miles for Smiles, Lincoln Memorial University’s College of Dental Medicine and other local medical and dental providers will be at the Leeman Field RV Park (335 Fairground Road) in Pennington Gap that Thursday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Services offered during the free clinic include:
- General dentistry services such as dental screenings, oral exams, limited fillings and cleanings, emergency extractions, and denture screenings.
- Medical services include medical exams, PAPs, X-rays, lung screenings, hearing screenings, echocardiograms, and limited labs.
- Dermatology evaluations, behavioral health, pharmacy medication management and sign-ups for insurance will also be available on site.
- Ballad Health will bring their mammography van.
- Vision exams with prescription eyeglasses.

The Health Wagon will have Dr. Joe Smiddy and his son (also) Dr. Joe Smiddy along with Dr. Teresa Tyson FNP- BC to provide vision screenings, eyeglasses, pulmonology evaluations, and chest X-rays. Frank Waldo and Appalachia Miles for Smiles will bring their mobile dental unit.
Free food boxes and other giveaways of home goods, toys for kids, Phillips water filters, L’Oreal make-up and hygiene supplies will be available.
Services will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 7 a.m.
