One killed, one jailed after drive-by shooting

One man is dead and another in jail after a drive-by shooting on Winchester Avenue Thursday night.

Middlesboro Police responded to the scene of the shooting in front of Midnight Market just before 9:30 p.m. Thursday, according to a report by WRIL.

The victim, identified by Bell County Deputy Coroner Jason Steele as 24-year-old JD Lumpkin of Middlesboro, was taken to Middlesboro ARH Hospital where he succumbed to the gunshot wounds.

Lelsie Sherman Webb, 27, of Middlesboro, was taken into custody by Middlesboro Police before 9:45 p.m.

He was lodged in the Bell County Detention Center charged with manslaughter – 2nd degree. KRS 507.040 states that a person is guilty of manslaughter in the second degree when he wantonly causes the death of another person.

Lt./Detective Barry Cowan is in charge of the investigation.
