Tess Walters, 72

Tess Walters of Balkan, born February 7, 1952, to the late Hobert and Laura Cox Walters, went home to be with the Lord on April 26, 2024, at home surrounded by his family. Tess was baptized and a member of Old Yellow Creek Baptist Church #2 in Middlesboro, KY. He was a retired underground coal miner, with a job he loved for 23 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Millard, Paul, Aurthur (Dorothy), and Evert Walters; sister, Alberta (Charles) Hodge; sister-in-law, Gloria Walters, and brother-in-law, Tom Helton.

Tess is survived y his loving wife, Kathy of 53 years, two daughters, Sonya (Joe) Sutton of New Tazewell, TN and Angie (Roger) Wilder of Miracle, KY; five grandchildren, Bill (Alex) Brock, Kendra (Nekoda) Hatmaker, Kyle (Brittany) Brock, Caleb (Sierra) Baird, and Whitney (Joseph) Turner; seven great-grandchildren; brother, JR “Couch” Walters; sisters, Loretta Helton and Dorothy (Dennis) Martineau; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Services will be on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 7:00 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Sutton and Rev. David Givens presiding. Music will be by the Whipple Baptist Church Singers. A burial will follow on Wednesday at 2:00 PM in the Walters Cemetery on Highway 119. Pallbearers will be Billy Brock, Kyle Brock, Caleb Baird, Joseph Turner, Nekoda Hatmaker, and Daniel Dottry. The honorary pallbearer will be Wesley Saylor.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Arnett & Steele Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Pineville, which is honored to serve the Walters Family.
