Lady Lions stretch win streak to five
The Pineville Lady Lions continued their streak of strong play by sweeping through four games at home last week.
Pineville  (9-5) defeated Knox Central 5-4, Harlan County 11-1 in six innings, Clay County 1-0 and Berea 15-0 in three frames.
Against the Panthers, the Lady Lions racked up 11 hits led by Rayanna Maidon with a double and two singles. Rachel Howard,
Malley Smith, and Monica Whitehead had two hits a piece. Addison Slone added a double. Nadine Johnson had a single.
Howard gave up one earned run and scattered four hits over seven innings with 16 strikeouts and a walk.
The Lions bats were hot against the Bears as Pineville pounded out 13 hits led by Howard and Johnson’s three hits each. Isabella Adams, Slone and Maidon had two hits each. Smith added one hit.
Howard was again her dominant self inside the circle, giving up only one run on two hits. She fanned 16 and walked one.
It was a defensive performance and a pitching gem for the Lady Lions against the Tigers as the defense held Clay to no runs and only five hits and Howard dominated with 18 strikeouts.
Johnson had both hits for the Lady Lions and knocked in the lone run.

The Pineville Mountain Lions split a pair of games this week, defeating Lynn Camp 20-4 in three innings, losing at Middlesboro 21-3 in three innings, and falling at Williamsburg 4-3.
Pineville (5-10) pounded out eight hits against the Wildcats, led by Deakon Partin with two singles.  Sam Caldwell, Logunn Littles, Kaiden Robbins, Landon Robbins, Wyatt Caldwell and Tristan Johnson added hits.
Wyatt Caldwell got the win on the mound, allowing two hits and striking out three over 1 2/3 innings. Sam Caldwell pitched 1 1/3 innings and allowed no hits and three walks.
Against the Yellow Jackets, the Lions were their worst enemy by allowing several walks that led to many unearned runs.
Littles, Kaiden Robbins, and Wyatt Caldwell had RBI hits for Pineville.
Partin took the loss for Pineville. Kaiden Robbins, Sam Caldwell, and Littles also pitched for the Lions.
No information was released yet on the Williamsburg game.
