Cumberland Gap National Historical Park held a celebration of America’s frontier during Pioneer Weekend this past Friday, Saturday and Sunday. On Friday over 150 local school children were able to witness re-enactors demonstrate the skills that were important on the Kentucky frontier. These included blacksmithing, hide tanning, basket weaving, candle making and they were even able to see a 1700s land agent. The re-enactors continued on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. outside the park’s visitor center.
