Jackets suffer fourth straight loss

Connor West drove in three runs with four singles in four at bats as visiting Barbourville overpowered Middlesboro 9-5 on Friday.
Luke Hillard added two hits for the 4-3 Tigers, while Colby Peters, Nathan Miller and Ty Clark contributed one each.
Noah Gray gave up five runs (one earned) on four hits in 3 2/3 innings on the mound. Ty Clark earned the win as he allowed only one hit over 2 1/3 innings, with six strikeouts and one walk. Hillary struck out all three batters he faced to close the game.
Middlesboro fell 10-0 at South Laurel on March 29. No stats were available for Middlesboro in either game.
The 2-6 Jackets play host to Bell County on Monday in the district opener for both teams. The two teams will meet against on Tuesday at Log Mountain.
