Howard tosses 2-hitter as Lady Lions defeat Middlesboro

The Pineville Lady Lions continued their gauntlet of playing quality 13th Region opponents on the road, defeating Middlesboro 3-0 and falling to Clay County 1-0.
The Lions’ victory over the Lady Jackets was a historic one. It marked the first time Pineville had beaten MHS in regular-season play in recent memory.
Sophomore pitcher Rachel Howard pitched a gem in the circle, throwing a two-hit shutout and striking out 15. Howard also helped her cause at the plate, going 3-3 with an RBI.
Freshman outfielder Rayanna Maidon, sophomore infielder McKenzie Laws, and junior first baseman Isabella Adams had two hits each for Pineville. Baleigh Bargo-Vaughn, Shawna Elliott, Madison Johnson and Addison Slone added hits to the 13-hit PHS attack.
