The Bell County Sheriff’s Department has issued a scam alert after receiving multiple complaints about calls for “Federal Jury Duty.”

According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, the caller tells a would-be victim that they are with the Bell County Sheriff’s Department and they have a warrant out for their arrest for not appearing for jury duty.

The Sheriff’s Department does not contact the public by phone, email, or social media messenger, claiming they have a warrant out for their arrest and the department will never require payment by phone, email, or social media messenger, in order to do away with a warrant.
