The MMS Academic Team finished their 2023-2024 season with an impressive showing at the 2024 Governor’s Cup State Academic Competition.
After winning a district and regional championship and multiple individual awards at each level, the MMS Academic Team competed in the state competition in Louisville this past weekend. The team continued to represent MMS well, winning several more awards.
The Quick Recall Team finished pool play undefeated and entered the “Smart 16” single elimination tournament, finishing 5th in the state.
Rhilynn Rogers placed in three different individual categories: 5th in Arts & Humanities, 4th in General Knowledge and 3rd in Individual Quick Recall.
At the end of all competitions, going up against public, private, and magnet schools from across the state, the MMS Academic team finished 10th overall.
“These kids started working way back in September. It’s a great group of kids that work really hard,” said MMS academic team coach Richie Rogers. “As a coach I couldn’t be more proud of the work they put in this year. They certainly earned it.”
