Jackets break four-game skid with rout of Trimble County

After four straight four-point losses, the Middlesboro Yellow Jackets left nothing to chance Saturday against Trimble County in the Chain Rock Classic at Pineville High School.

Senior center Trey King led a balanced Middlesboro attack with 20 points and 14 rebounds as the Jackets rolled to a 76-42 victory. Jerimah Beck added 18 points and five rebounds. Cayden Grigsby had 14 points and eight rebounds. Jack Smith came off the bench to score nine. Bryce Bowling and Brayden Barnard each added five, followed by Peyton Turner with three and Mekhi Young with two.

Middlesboro fell 61-57 to Somerset on Thursday and 65-61 to Raceland on Friday in earlier action from the tournament.

King scored 22 and Beck added 19 to lead the Jackets against Raceland. Barnard tossed in nine. Grigsby scored six. Joseph Killion added three. Bowling chipped in with two.

The 5-6 Jackets return to action Saturday in the 13th Region All “A” Classic at Red Bird, taking on Oneida Baptist at 4 p.m.
