An early morning incident Friday has left one man shot and another on the run from police.
Middlesboro Police Department officers were called to Middlesboro Appalachian Regional Healthcare before 7 a.m. Friday for a report of a victim with a gunshot wound. The shooting allegedly took place in Middlesboro, according to a press release from police.
Officers were given information identifying Tommy J. Ellison of Middlesboro as the possible shooter.
Later in the day near noon, officers were called to the Rennie Gayle apartment complex on a call reporting another shooting. An investigation again indicated that Ellison was a suspect in the second incident. He had reportedly fled the area on foot before officers arrived on the scene, according to the press release.
Both victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and both are acquaintances of Ellison, according to police, who said the victims were not random.
Ellison remains at large. He is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. Anyone with information about Ellison’s whereabouts should call the Middlesboro Police Department at 606-248-3636. Callers can remain anonymous.
According to the press release, officers from the Middlesboro Police K-9 Sgt. Harvey Johnson and K-9 Atlas, as well as Cumberland Gap National Park Rangers assisted in the efforts. Sgt. Kenny Vanover is in charge of the investigation.
