Senior was SAC Elite 20 winner for women’s tennis
Senior Lincoln Memorial University women’s tennis student-athlete Kiersten Waugh has been placed on the 2020 Academic All-District® Women’s At-Large Team, selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and announced Thursday afternoon.
Waugh becomes the first Lady Railsplitter tennis player to be placed on the CoSIDA Academic All-District® At-Large Team since LMU Hall of Famer Sofia Lopez Mimendi in 2012. Recognizing the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom, the CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions – NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III and NAIA.
The first LMU tennis player, men’s or women’s, to win the South Atlantic Conference Elite 20 Award, Waugh tallied a perfect 4.00 grade point average during her undergraduate career as a biology/pre-med major.
On the court, the London, Ontario, Canada, native had a fantastic senior campaign competing primarily at the No. 3 position in singles and at No. 2 doubles. Going 8-4 overall in singles, Waugh teamed up with sophomore Amanda Dahlstrom to also finish with an 8-4 doubles record. The duo went 6-4 at the No. 2 spot and Waugh registered a 6-4 record at No. 3 singles with match victories at both the No. 2 and No. 6 singles positions.
Honorees selected first-team Academic All-District® advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. Academic All-America® honorees will be announced June 16-19.
