Investigators in Louisville say 33-year-old Amanda Berry’s body had been in a Parkland home’s basement for quite some time before it was discovered by police. Berry, formerly of Middlesboro, was found by police the night of Wednesday, Jan. 29.

A Louisville news station, WAVE 3, spoke to several people who live on the street and described seeing warning signs that something terrible was about to happen in the home where Berry lived. They stated that strange behaviors make sense for those who often saw Berry when she was alive.

According to those neighbors Berry was quiet and kept to herself except when she was with her boyfriend and that she was often heard crying for help.

One neighbor recalled seeing Berry running down the street and screaming as her boyfriend chased after her.

Another neighbor reported seeing the man Berry was living with choking her and yelling that he was going to kill her.

Several people living on the street told WAVE 3 News that Berry’s boyfriend killed her dog and broke her belongings.

Those people who reported seeing Berry daily said they hadn’t seen her in at least a month before her body was found. Her boyfriend reportedly told neighbors he didn’t know where she was.

Louisville Metro Police Department has not released if there are suspects in the case or if any arrests have been made in connection.
