On Jan. 8 at approximately 9:49 a.m., Bell County Deputy Edward Dray was dispatched to Brock Hollow Road in Pineville in response to a possible stolen motor vehicle located within the vicinity.

Bell County Dispatch advised that a tan/gold 2005 Cadillac Deville with Tennessee registration belonging to Erick Canada of Kodak, Tenn. had a GPS attached and was currently being tracked to the area.

Upon arrival, deputy Dray located the vehicle loaded onto a trailer, attached to a red 2011 Chevrolet pick-up and parked directly in front of 435 Brock Hollow Road, the residence of 43-year-old William Justus Brock of Pineville.

Upon contact with the pick-up, Dray found David Lynn Baker of Kettle Island sitting in the driver’s seat. Brock then exited the residence and both men were read their rights and separated for interviews.

It was determined that Baker knew Brock and had been contacted by him to haul the Cadillac to an unknown location. Baker stated that he had no prior knowledge of the vehicle being stolen and that he was simply trying to make some money.

Brock said that he found the vehicle on his property but claimed he had no knowledge of how it got there or who it belonged to. He then claimed he was simply attempting to move it out of the roadway.

Deputy Dray placed Brock in the back of his patrol car while he continued the investigation. As he was being placed in the vehicle Brock dropped a glass pipe, containing suspected methamphetamine on the ground, along with a small clear plastic bag containing approximately 6.7 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine, another small clear plastic bag containing approximately 0.5 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine, and a small orange plastic bag containing suspected marijuana on the rear floorboard. Brock was then placed under arrest.

Deputy Dray states that the Cadillac hood was still hot to the touch, that the front passenger busted out, and that Brock had the ignition key in his pant pocket. Brock stated that the vehicle was brought to his residence by “Frank Morton,” along with an unknown female.

He went on to say that he found the drugs and drug paraphernalia inside the car and removed it because he did not know what to do with it. He also admitted to driving the car before Dray arrived on scene.

Baker’s truck was searched but did not reveal any drugs and/or paraphernalia. He disconnected his pick-up from the trailer and was free to go. The Cadillac was then towed to a secure area to be stored.

William Brock was transported to and lodged in the Bell County Detention Center charged with first-degree trafficking controlled substance, possession of marijuana, buying/selling drug paraphernalia, and receiving stolen property under $10,000.

Shortly after Brock being booked, Dray obtained and executed a search warrant at Brock’s residence with the assistance of Chief Deputy Doug Jordan, Bell County Dispatcher Dusty Harris (conducting a ride along), and Bell County Constable Keith Cox.

Found in the search was approximately 25 pounds of marijuana, a black 9mm semi-automatic loaded Ruger, a stainless .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol, a small clear plastic bag containing suspected crystal methamphetamine, a glass pipe containing suspected methamphetamine, a prescription bottle containing tablets believed to be gabapentin, an OD green ballistic vest, numerous various caliber ammunition, and small weight scales.

A further investigation of Brock revealed he had been convicted of a felony in 2009. He was later charged with two counts of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, trafficking in marijuana, first-degree possession of a controlled substance and buying/possessing drug paraphernalia.

While the search was being conducted, two individuals came to the home. The first was 32-year-old Jonathan Micheal Taylor of Pineville driving a Honda ATV. An investigation revealed that Taylor was under the influence and a search incident to arrest revealed he was in possession of Oxycodone and Tramadol.

Taylor was arrested and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, first-degree possession of controlled substance, third-degree possession of controlled substance, operating on a DUI suspended license, operating an ATV on the roadway, possession of operator’s license when privileges are revoke/suspended, and he was served a bench warrant.

The second individual was 57-year-old Julie Ann Gabbard of Pineville along with her husband Dewey Gabbard in a 2008 silver Mazda.

Julie Gabbard was also determined to be under the influence and was placed under arrest charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, operating on a suspended license, and possession of operator’s license when privileges are revoked/suspended. Dewey Gabbard was found to be in possession of marijuana and was cited to court.

Both Jonathan Michael Taylor and Julie Ann Gabbard were lodged in the Bell County Detention Center.
