Man dies in single-vehicle crash near Bell-Knox line

One man is dead following a single-car crash near the Bell-Knox County line on Thursday. According to a press release from Kentucky State Police Post 10, Harlan, Daniel Patterson, 61, of Cannon, was pronounced dead at the scene.

KSP received a call of a single-vehicle collision on U.S. 25E in the Flat Lick community of Knox County. The press release states Patterson was driving a 2002 Chevrolet S-10 pick-up truck south bound on the highway.

Evidence from the scene indicates the vehicle dropped off the roadway into the median where it began overturning multiple times, ejecting Patterson from the vehicle the release states.

The Knox County Coroner pronounced Patterson dead at the scene.

Patterson was the only occupant in the vehicle. No seat belt was in use at the time of the wreck. According to KSP, drugs and alcohol are not suspected at this time.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation by trooper Sammy Farris.
