The 2019 Levitt AMP Middlesboro Music Series was an unforgettable season of free concerts in downtown.

Dana Greene, host of the Levitt AMP Music Series, announced that two of the 2019 performers have been nominated for 2020 Grammy Awards.

“We are fortunate that two of our performers during the 2019 series were nominated on Nov. 20 for 2020 Grammy Awards,” Greene said. “Larkin Poe and Southern Avenue received nominations in the Best Contemporary Blues Album category.”

Larkin Poe performed at Aug. 29 and Southern Avenue performed on Sept. 5 both for large crowds.

“We congratulate these artists,” said Greene. “Also, we look forward to continuing to provide quality entertainment from high caliber national talent with our 2020 series beginning next July.”

The free concert series is sponsored in part by the Mortimer & Mimi Levitt Foundation, which is a national funder of creative placemaking that empowers communities to inject new life into underused public spaces through free, outdoor concerts.

The series presented 10 free, family-friendly concerts to the public this summer at the Levitt Lot.

The series featured a diverse lineup of high-caliber talent spanning genres like Bluegrass, Country, Soul, Jazz, R&B, Rock n’ Roll, Blues and more.
