The USDA Farm Service Agency is taking applications for the Livestock Forage Program (LFP).

Bell, Harlan, Knox and Whitley counties went into D3 drought status on Oct. 15, according to the US Drought Monitor. This officially qualifies for LFP implementation.

To be eligible, producers in the above mentioned counties must own or lease a farm with a registered Farm Serial Number, owned livestock at least 60 days before Oct. 1, 2019, and have a 2019 Acreage Report for pasture land on file with the FSA office.

Producers can still file a late crop report. However, there is a $46 late fee per farm.

Application deadline is Jan. 30, 2020.
