Railsplitters fall to late header at Anderson

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Lincoln Memorial University men’s soccer team fall to a late header by Anderson University in the 83rd minute on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Renato Oban gave the Trojans the lead after finishing a ball off the post from Alexand Cox-Ashwood in the 39th minute of action.
Railsplitters defender Tom O’Brien notched a goal off of a cross from midfielder Kazimir Lauber to tie the match in the 82nd minute of the match.
In about 90 seconds of the LMU goal, Anderson’s Colin Burris headed a ball in off of a direct kick from Jhon Vacca to regain the lead, leading to a setback for the Blue and Gray.
TEAM STATS
The Railsplitters trailed the Trojans in shots (10-21), shots on goal (3-9) and led in corner kicks (7-3) on Saturday afternoon.
THE KEEPERS
AU – Gal Elyahiv notched a pair of saves and one goal against in 90 minutes of play.
LMU – Robin Hermann steered away seven shots faced for the Railsplitters with two goals against.
HISTORICALLY SPEAKING
After today’s setback, LMU maintains the lead all-time in head-to-head play against the Trojans at 7-5-1 dating back to September of 2007.
UP NEXT
The Railsplitters will come back to Harrogate and continue their final push for the postseason hosting the Newberry College Wolves. Kickoff scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 26.
