Pineville downs Middlesboro 3-2 to end regular season

Middlesboro falls to Pineville, 3-2

The Middlesboro and Pineville volleyball teams wrapped up their regular seasons last night against one another with Pineville defeating Middlesboro 3-2.

After falling in the first two sets, the Lady Lions rallied to defeat the Lady Jackets in the final three sets (25-20, 25-19, 15-12).

Middlesboro’s Gabby Daniels had two assists, four digs and three aces during the game. Amber Mullins added six kills, seven blocks, one assist, three digs and three aces. Chloe Burchette added two blocks, one assist, two digs and two aces.

Harmony Goins had three assists, one dig and three aces. Shelby Herrell had five kills, six blocks, two assists, four digs and three aces. Emalee Sullivan added three assists, five digs and three aces. Autumn Short had three kills, one block, three assists, three digs and two aces.

Julia Howard had one assist, three digs and three aces. Emily Wilson added two assists and three aces.

Both teams have struggled this season. After losing their last regular season game, Middlesboro moved to 2-16 on the season, with both victories against the Barbourville Tigers.

With the victory, Pineville improved to 6-18 overall on the season and 2-4 in district play with both victories coming against Barbourville as well.

Middlesboro will take on the Harlan County Black Bears in the 52nd District tournament on Monday.

Bell County defeats Buckhorn, ends three-game losing streak

The Bell County Lady Cats wrapped up their season with a 3-0 victory over Buckhorn on Thursday night, improving to 13-12 on the season. Bell County will take on the Harlan County Lady Bears in the 52nd District tournament on Monday at 7:30 p.m.

Makenna LeFevers led the Lady Cats with 12 kills, 23 digs and seven aces. Lauren Fultz added 12 digs. Kierstyn Parks added five digs and three aces.

Ramie Reese had four kills, four assists, 10 digs and one ace. Clara Bolinger added six kills, one block, two digs and two aces. Mary-Kate Smith had one kill, three blocks, one dig and two aces. Raegan Robbins added two kills, one block, 28 assists, 18 digs and six aces. Madison Ford added seven kills, 11 digs and two aces.

Buckhorn was led by the efforts of Jamaica Miller and Haley Turner. Miller ended the game with six kills, one block, four digs and an ace. Turner finished the night with three kills, one block, 13 digs and two aces. Tiffany Williams contributed five assists, seven digs and a team-high six aces.
