Bell County Sheriff Mitch Williams welcomed Terry Dashno and his wife Connie to Pineville Friday. The couple made the trip from a small town in New York to walk where his former partner in the Vietnam War had walked. Earl Wilder and Dashno were partners in the Vietnam war from 1969 to 1970. “He was my savior,” Dashno said. “He carried a machine gun and if I went down, he started shooting. You know somebody and you trust them and we both came home.” Dashno and his wife plan on spending time with Wilder’s family and visiting Kentucky and Tennessee. “This is a welcome home,” Dashno’s wife Connie said. “That is something they never got when they came home.” They spent Friday in Pineville taking in the sights and visiting Wilder’s family.
