Pictured, are Level 2 and Level 3 students at Harlan Dojo of Martial Arts. Each endured 1-2 hours of intense testing to determine their performance under stress. Instructors Danny Caudill and Darian White say they are a “very dedicated and talented” group. “Krav Maga is an Israeli reality-based modern self-defense system. It is the most battle tested self-defense system and is used by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), as well as other organizations, including the Kentucky State Police,” White said. “Krav Maga was created by Imi Lechtenfeld in the 1930’s and when translated means ‘contact combat.’ Krav uses a level system as opposed to belts, like martial arts, and is easy to learn and is great for men and women alike. Not only do they learn skills to help keep themselves and their loved ones safe against modern attackers, but they get a great workout as well.” The intense, fast-paced classes are held every Thursday 6 p.m. in the Harlan Dojo of Martial Arts on Sukey Ridge in Harlan. If you would like attend a class, contact White on their Facebook page or message him directly. “Remember, attackers want victims, not opponents. Don’t be a victim,” White said.
