HAZARD — On Oct. 4, Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH), along with Kentucky Skills U, will be hosting a career fair for residents within ARH service areas who do not have a high school diploma or GED from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hazard ARH cafeteria, located at 100 Medical Center Drive in Hazard.

The career fair invites attendees to further their education and careers with the help of ARH and their sponsors, Kentucky Skills U, Eastern Kentucky Concentrated Employment Program, Inc. and the United Steelworkers.

ARH and Kentucky Skills U have partnered to offer this opportunity to eastern Kentucky residents. Qualifying candidates will be offered full-time employment with outstanding benefits including comprehensive insurance, 403B retirement plans, paid time off, and more. In addition, ARH will cover all GED testing costs, while Kentucky Skills U will offer free GED preparatory courses. ARH’s flexible work schedules enable qualifying candidates to participate in these free on-site classes. Assistance programs from a variety of community partners are also available in order to ensure success in the classroom and the workforce.

“We are very excited about rolling out an opportunity for employment for entry level positions at ARH for applicants without a GED,” said Appalachian Regional Healthcare System Director Human Resources Sonya Bergman. The Kentucky Department of Education and the Kentucky Secretary of Education and Workforce Development, Derrick Ramsey, are recognizing the program at the state level as the first pilot program in Kentucky.

ARH hiring managers will be conducting onsite interviews at the career fair, while KY Skills U staff will enroll candidates in GED courses. This is a great opportunity for eastern Kentucky residents to jumpstart a career in healthcare.
