Pineville women’s basketball standout guard Whitney Caldwell was named the Pineville Homecoming Queen during halftime of the Pineville/East Ridge game in Pineville on Friday night.

Caldwell has been a vital piece to the Lady Lions’ basketball team since her 8th grade season. During her time at Pineville, Caldwell has improved every year of her career. She averaged 4.8 points-per-game as an eighth grader, 9.9 points-per-game as a freshman and 16.5 points-per-game as a sophomore.

Caldwell was named 51st District Player of the Year as well as being named to the all-district team in her sophomore campaign during the 2018-19 season. She was committed to LMU in Harrogate, Tenn. prior to re-opening her recruitment earlier this year.

Now an upperclassmen, the Lady Lions will look to Caldwell this season for continued leadership on and off the court, as well as maintaining consistency on the court.
