HARROGATE, Tenn. – Tanner Alley has been named as the assistant coach for the Lincoln Memorial University women’s basketball program.
Alley, who was the program’s graduate assistant last season, steps into the first assistant role after Eric Brewton Jr. was promoted to interim head coach following the departure of former head coach Krystal Evans over the summer.
“I believe that Tanner Alley is a great addition to this staff because he has been around and knows this campus better than anyone,” said Brewton. “He helped me out last year with the development of the guard play and with scouting reports. His detail in game planning is something that the team will greatly benefit from, and that will be needed and helpful for this upcoming year.
“His excitement and readiness to learn more about this game will take him far in the coaching business.”
Alley is a native of Kingsport, Tenn. and graduated from Gate City High School. He has both a Bachelor in Accounting and a Master in Business Administration degree from LMU.
“First I would like to thank Dr. Hess and Dr. Goins for this opportunity to continue to allow me to work with the women’s basketball program in this new capacity,” said Alley. “I am excited about this new role and this new staff that coach Brewton has in place.”
Last season, he was mainly responsible for scouting of opponents, development of guard play, overseeing student managers and the monitoring of the student-athletes’ academic success. He also assisted coach Brewton with all areas of travel and film study.
Said Alley, “I’m looking forward to working day in and day out to help this program compete at the highest level. I know that will come with a lot of details and focus on the little things in practice, film and in the weight room. But I see it in our players already that they are locked in and ready to get to work.”
