BARBOURVILLE — Union College head baseball coach Bart Osborne announced Garrett Lovorn is joining the coaching staff for the 2020 season.
“We are thrilled to have Garrett on campus,” said Osborne. “We are excited to see what he can do with our pitching staff.”
Lovorn joins the team after two years of volunteering at Longwood University (Va.), an NCAA Division I institution. While at Longwood, Lovorn organized and developed the pitching staff, helped with fundraising and structured midweek scouting reports.
Prior to his coaching days, Lovorn played for the Clemson University Tigers where he was a member of the team for three years as a right-handed pitcher, earning a No. 7 national seed in 2016. During his tenure, he earned a bachelor degree in parks, recreation and tourism management with a minor in Athletic Leadership.
In 2017, Lovorn played one season at Lander University earning a master’s in exercise science.
Union went 27-25 in 2019 and advanced to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round.
