SKCTC provides free opportunities for business owners

On Tuesday, Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College will offer three free workshops on the Middlesboro and Harlan campuses for current and aspiring business owners.

From 11:30-1:00 p.m., participants will learn about business training, financing and community resources that support businesses during all stages of development. Lunch and a free book are included. This session, which will be held in Room #106 of the Educational Alliance Center, will be presented by Sustainable Business Ventures and Kentucky Highlands Investment Corporation. At the same time on the Southeast Harlan Campus, the Kentucky Highlands Investment Corporation, in conjunction with seven local organizations, will provide a free workshop in Building 1, Room 127. Trainers will show participants how to develop a business plan, create a website, use social media and access capital. They will also offer technical assistance and provide a free lunch. Each organization will make a five-minute presentation discussing their services.

From 5:30-7:00 p.m., participants will learn about Google My Business, a free tool that helps businesses connect with potential customers on Google Search and Maps. They will also learn how to create or claim a Business Profile on Google and create a free website using this information. This session, which will be held in Room #235 of the Troy Welch Science & Technology Building, will be presented by the Small Business Development Center and Grow with Google.
