Gross claims top-4 finish at World University Games

NAPOLI, Italy – Union College archer Denver Calvin Gross sought to land a podium finish in the men’s compound team event. However, he and Josh Isenhoff of University of the Cumberlands’ fell short as they placed fourth at the World University Games Friday afternoon.

The duo battled top-seed Miguel Becerra Rivas and Rodolfo Gonzalez De Alba of Mexico in the bronze medal match. Mexico took a one-point lead after the first end 39-38 and extended their lead to 78-75 midway through the match. Gross and Isenhoff registered a 39 in the third end, but it wasn’t enough as they fell 158-150 to claim a fourth-place finish.
