Cecil Jackson from Kentucky Utilities conducted a career program for fifth- through eighth-grades at Lone Jack School Center. Jackson, of the Fourmile community, who with determination has worked hard from a child up to accomplish what he has in life today. He provided props of utility poles to exhibit how electric actually gets to your homes. The process begins in the call center, from receiving calls from people to report problems. A call center representative was available for the program as well. Jackson talked to the students about job opportunities at the KU that did not require a college education. However, on the same note, he stressed the importance of keeping yourself in shape in order to work for them. He discussed that you had to be trustworthy, not involved in drugs, attendance was a big issue to make sure you were prompt for work every day, and how that begins in school. He talked to them about making the right choices and working hard to make your dreams a reality. The program was sponsored by the Family Resource Youth Service Center.
