Eight home contests highlight 2019 women’s soccer schedule

BARBOURVILLE — Union College head women’s soccer coach Camila Mendes revealed the Bulldogs’ schedule for the 2019 season.

The upcoming season features 18 matches, eight being played on the Bulldogs’ home turf. Coming off a 4-11-1 regular season and finishing 3-8-1 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC), the Bulldogs work toward the new season with sights set high.

Union’s first match-up is on the road against Thomas More College on Aug. 21 before returning home on Aug. 28 to face Georgetown College. The Bulldogs will finish out their non-conference portion of the schedule with three away contests against Shawnee State University (Ohio) on Sept. 4, Cincinnati Christian University (Ohio) on Sept. 7, and King University (Tenn.) on Sept. 10.

The Bulldogs open up AAC play at home against Reinhardt University (Ga.) on Sept. 14 before making its way to Milligan College (Tenn.) for its first road conference competition. Union will host back-to-back AAC foes St. Andrews University (N.C.) on Sept. 21 and later Bryan College (Tenn.) on Sept. 25.

Union will close out the month of September on the road by traveling to Columbia, S.C. to face Columbia College on Sept. 28. The Bulldogs return home Oct. 2 to battle Montreat College (N.C.) and then will pay a visit to Columbia International University (S.C.) on Oct. 5 and Bluefield College (Va.) on Oct. 9. Union then enjoys a three-game homestand, hosting Brenau University (Ga.) on Oct. 12, Kentucky Christian University on Oct. 16, and Truett McConnell University (Ga.) on Oct. 19.

To conclude the regular season, the Bulldogs travel to face AAC rival Tennessee Wesleyan University on Oct. 23 and Point University (Ga.) on Oct. 26.
