NORMAN, Okla. – Lincoln Memorial University’s Sam Broadhurst caps off his collegiate career by being selected one of 24 honorees to the 2019 All-Nicklaus Team, presented by Barbasol.

Selections were made by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) as players from Divisions I, II, III, NAIA and NJCAA were recognized for their outstanding play during the 2018-19 collegiate season.

The All-Nicklaus Team was created in 2008, and is not only named for history’s greatest player but also a long-time supporter of collegiate and amateur golf. Jack Nicklaus, a Big Ten and NCAA Champion at the Ohio State University, helped inspire and create the Jack Nicklaus Award in 1988 and it is now presented to the National Player of the year in NCAA Divisions I, II and III, as well as NAIA and NJCAA. Award recipients have combined for over 200 victories worldwide and claimed 23 major championships.

The Nuneaton, England native finished his senior season ranked second nationally, and first in the southeast region with an adjusted scoring average of 71.04. He finished in the top-20 in all 13 tournaments, earning individual medalist honors in four events. For the season, he shot 13 sub-70 rounds and shot par or better in 22 of his 38 rounds played this year. He also helped lead the Railsplitters to a runner-up finish in the NCAA Division II National Championship this season.

He ends his career with a program-best 71.78 stroke average and finished in the top 10 in 31 of 52 career events, including 15 top-five finishes and on four occasions finished in first place.

Being named to the All-Nicklaus team caps off an impressive career for Broadhurst, which saw him named both the South Atlantic Conference Male Athlete of the Year and the SAC Men’s Golfer of the Year in 2019. He was a four-time First Team All-SAC performer, SAC Freshman of the Year in 2013, and was named PING/NCAA All-Region and All-America three times. He was also a finalist for the 2019 Jack Nicklaus National Player of the Year Award.

Broadhurst is currently playing in several amateur tournaments this summer and plans to turn pro later this year.
