According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Kentucky has the fifth highest rate of obesity in the nation. The UK Cooperative Extension Service, Bell County Office has many programs to help the community make healthier lifestyle choices. For the last eight weeks, 13 people participated in our Weigh 2 Go Wednesdays weight loss series! Each Wednesday, participants weighed in and were given tips and information on ways to lose weight and increase physical activity in their daily routine. Overall, 100 percent chose to measure their portions when eating and preparing meals at home verses eating out. 50 percent of the group participated in walking 30 minutes five days a week and focused on becoming more purposefully active during the day. A total of 40 lbs was lost by all. For more information on Extension programming and weight loss tips, call your Bell County Extension Office.
Rosie Brock was the biggest loser of the group, losing 7.2 pounds.
