June 2-8 is National Garden Club Week and the Middlesborough Garden Club will be participating with many projects during this time. The club is part of the Mountain Laurel District and the Garden Club of Kentucky. Their mission statement is to provide education, resources and networking opportunities for its members to promote the love of gardening, floral design, civic and environmental responsibility. The Middlesborough club has just under 40 members that work on projects throughout the community including; animal shelter landscape, Arthur Museum gardening, partnering with the historical society on landscape design, downtown streetscapes, Bell County organic gardening project, Middlesboro ARH healing garden, Middlesboro Library beautification project and partnering with Middlesboro Main Street and Kentucky Mountain Laurel Festival.
