Western Building Supply in Lee County, Va. is under new ownership after father and son duo Jimmy and Adam Barnes recently purchased the business.

For over 40 years, Greg and Nancy Wheeler owned the business.

“They started it in 1979,” Adam Barnes said. “They were just ready to retire, and we hated to see it go out of business.”

Barnes added that along with the lumber and building supplies, they have Stihl chainsaws and weed eaters and also provide repair for them.

“It’s the only building supply on this end of Lee County,” he explained. “We are friends, and we didn’t want to see it close and that end of the county without something.”

The Barnes also run a gun and pawn shop in Pennington Gap.

“We have been in Pennington Gap for 30 years and have a business background, not necessarily building supply,” he said. “We have the basic building supplies, lumber and anything you need as far as a normal building supply store should have.”

They have also added Bad Boy and Spartan zero-turn lawnmowers to the store inventory and also carry the parts and blades for their maintenance.

They are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 8 a.m. to midnight. Western Building Supply is located at 3093 Dr. Thomas Walker Dr. in Ewing. If you have any questions, you can call them at 276-445-4127 or visit their website at www.westernbuildingsupplyva.com.
