NORMAN, Okla. – The Railsplitters stayed put at No. 10 in the final regular-season Bushnell Golfweek Division II Coaches Poll that was released by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) on Friday.
Lincoln Memorial, which earned its fourth consecutive NCAA tournament bid last week, is also ranked 10th in the nation by the Golfstat comparative rankings. The Railsplitters are preceded in the poll by the unanimous No. 1 Barry, No. 2 Lynn, No. 3 West Florida, No. 4 Western Washington, Chico State and Nova Southeastern, which are tied at No. 5, No. 7 Florida Tech, No. 8 Florida Southern and No. 9 St. Mary’s.
After Lincoln Memorial, the remainder of the top 15 includes No. 11 Young Harris, No. 12 Oklahoma Christian, No. 13 Sonoma State, No. 14 Limestone and No. 15 Carson-Newman.
The Railsplitters were last in action on April 16 when they closed out the 2019 South Atlantic Conference Championship with a fourth-place finish. That ended a run of four-straight victories for Lincoln Memorial, which had not finished outside of the winner’s circle prior to that since mid-February.
The Railsplitters are slated to return to action May 9-11 at the NCAA Division II South/Southeast Regional in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. The bulk of the best teams in the country will be in the field for that event, including No. 1 Barry, No. 2 Lynn (the defending national champions), No. 3 West Florida, No. 5 Nova Southeastern, No. 7 Florida Tech and No. 8 Florida Southern.
All told, the field features 13 of the top-25 teams in this week’s Bushnell Golfweek Division II Coaches Poll. The top seven finishers from the South/Southeast Regional will advance to the national championship May 20-24 at The Resort at Glade Springs in Daniels, W.V.
