Matthew Brock, 30, received more charges Friday from Middlesboro Police Officer Jeremiah Johnson following his arrest earlier this week.
Brock was arrested on Tuesday for theft by deception and forgery that involved deposits he allegedly kept that were supposed to be for payroll at two businesses he operated in Middlesboro.
According to WRIL, in the citation that was read to Brock at the Bell County Detention Center, officer Johnson states he deceived Commercial Bank by depositing $4,700 into an account and then obtained a cashier’s check to pay Shumate Funeral Home for rental property. Brock then withdrew the funds from the account before the check was processed.
He is also accused of passing a $1,988.75 check to Baronhoff’s Moving Inc. for their services knowing the check would not be honored.
The third accusation of theft by deception cold checks is for Brock writing a check in the amount of $2,425 to Downtown Medical Mall for rent knowing it wouldn’t be honored. He is also charged with stealing a $3,500 medical table from the same property.
Brock’s additional charges are three counts of theft by deception and one count of theft by unlawful taking ($500 or more but under $10,000).
He is being held without bond.
