One man is dead following a collision on U.S. 25E in Pineville. Ethan Fugate, 18, of Pineville, was struck while walking on the highway and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bell County Coroner’s Office.

According to a press release from Kentucky State Police, Post 10 received a call of a fatal collision on U.S. 25E in Pineville at approximately 4:20 a.m. Preliminary investigation indicates Mark Buis, 64, of Middlesboro, was traveling north on U.S. 25E while operating a 2010 Ford F-150.

Buis observed a pedestrian, later identified as Fugate, standing in the roadway but was unable to avoid striking him. No foul play is suspected.

The collision is being investigated by Det. Dackery Larkey.
