CAMPBELLSVILLE — Joe Gaines collects his 100th career RBI and Sinjin Shoop his 100th career hit, but the Union College baseball team fell 7-4 to non-conference foe Campbellsville University on Tuesday.
On the evening, Gaines led the Bulldogs going 3-for-5 from the plate, bringing in one run and collecting a stolen base.
With the loss, Union falls to 22-21 overall, while Campbellsville moves to 28-15 on the year.
RECAP
Union struck first in the top of the fourth as Daniel Neal grounded out but collected an RBI as Gaines scored for a 1-0 lead. The lead was short-lived as the Tigers scored six runs off three hits to grab a 6-1 cushion in the bottom of the fourth.
Ivan Objio doubled down the left-field line to start out the top of fifth, eventually scoring on an error to make it a 6-2 ball game. Campbellsville added another run off an RBI single making it 7-2 to finish out the bottom of the sixth.
In the final inning, Union rallied to cut the lead down to 7-4, as back-to-back singles from Shoop and Gaines put two runners across. But that was where the Bulldogs luck ran out to finish the game 7-4.
