Matthew Thomas Brock, former CFO for Pineville Community Hospital, was arrested on Tuesday by officers with the Middlesboro Police Department.

Brock is being held in the Bell County Detention Center without bond and is charged with theft by deception (cold checks) in the amount of $10,000 or more, two counts of theft by deception (cold checks) under $10,000 and second-degree forgery.

According to WRIL, the current charges stem from payroll issues with a third party, August Holdings, LLC., working in conjunction with two businesses Brock was running out of in Middlesboro. Brock was listed as the CEO of August Holdings.

The two businesses Brock was running out of were Neighborhood Pediatrics and Southeast Kentucky Urology, which according to WRIL closed their doors Tuesday.

Brock was arrested during a traffic stop by Middlesboro Police Officer Jeremiah Johnson.

During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that Brock had forged is wife’s name and entered into a contract with Dominion Payroll Services out of Nashville, Tenn.

According to the citation, while doing business with Dominion, Brock is charged with obtaining two separate deposits of $14,719.23 and $5,608.87 that were supposed to go to Dominion to make payroll already disbursed to employees.

WRIL states Brock is also charged with theft by deception under $10,000 after Ronnie Fuson of Fuson Sporting Goods in Pineville filed a complaint warrant in regard to a $1,082 bad check written to the business as Neighborhood Pediatrics with Brock knowing it wouldn’t be honored.

Brock was due in Bell County District Court Tuesday for two more theft by deception charges. That case was continued.

On March 18, Brock was arrested on a fugitive warrant out of Claiborne County for theft over $10,000. Prior to that arrest, he was charged in Blount County, Tenn. on similar charges. Once he made bond in Claiborne County, he was then picked up by authorities out of Knox County, Tenn. on theft charges.

Officer Johnson was assisted by officer Kenny Vanover on the stop. Officer Jordan Hurd assisted in the investigation.
