Middlesboro dominates Harlan County track meet

Middlesboro had a successful track meet in the Harlan County All-Comers event on March 29.
Middlesboro’s Alex Mason and Scotty Overbay took first and second place in the men’s 100-meter dash, with times of 11.71 seconds and 12.07 seconds, respectively. Pineville’s Landon Couch rounded out the top five with a fifth place finish with a time of 12.20 seconds.
Mason took first place in the men’s 200-meter dash with a time of 23.61 seconds. He was followed by Jabari Kyle in second place with a time of 24.23 seconds. Pineville’s Ian Middleton grabbed a seventh place finish with a time of 25.26 seconds.
Steven Poore took first place in the men’s 400-meter dash, with a time of 55.39 seconds. He was followed by Pineville’s Couch with a time of 55.96 seconds, taking second place. T.J. Patterson finished in sixth place with a time of 57.75 seconds.
In the men’s 800-meter run, Pineville’s Ethan Smith finished in second place with a time of 2:17.26. Middlesboro’s Andrew Padgett rounded out the top five with a fifth place finish and a time of 2:20.70. Junior Arrieta finished in seventh with a time of 2:21.79.
Middlesboro’s Ozzy Norris grabbed fifth in the men’s 1600-meter run with a time of 5:12.10.
Norris and Brendan Delph grabbed fourth and fifth place finishes in the men’s 3200-meter run with times of 12:09.55 and 12:30.70, respectively. Drew Martin finished 14th with a time of 14:38.77.
In the men’s 110-meter hurdles, Nathan Napier and Isaiah Dick finished sixth and seventh with times of 19.51 seconds and 21.32 seconds, respectively. Dick grabbed sixth place in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 50.40 seconds. Pineville’s Jacob Robbins finished seventh with a time of 50.50 seconds.
Middlesboro dominated team events, taking first place in the men’s 4×100 with a time of 45.42, first place in the 4×200 with a time of 1:35.66 and first place in the 4×400 with a time of 3:53.15. The Jackets also took a second place finish in the 4×800 with a time of 9:24.76.
Middlesboro’s Poore finished second in the high jump, with a height of 5 feet and 10 inches. Pineville’s Cameron Fuson finished fourth with a height of 5 feet and 6 inches. Poore and Kyle grabbed second and third place in the men’s long jump, with distances of 18 feet and 7 1/2 inches and 18 feet and 2 1/4 inches respectively.
Eric Helton took third in the triple jump with a total distance of 32 feet and 8 3/4 inches.
In women’s events, Middlesboro’s Kayla James took fourth place in the women’s 100-meter dash with a time of 14.09 seconds. James took first place in the women’s 200-meter dash with a time of 29.51. She was followed by Marta Segura who took third with a time of 30.49 seconds.
Gracie Rose took first place in the women’s 800-meter run with a time of 2:40.51. Mallory James grabbed a first place finish in the women’s 1600-meter run with a time of 5:51.70. Emery Glover finished in fourth, with a time of 6:38.81.
James and Glover took first and third place in the women’s 3200-meter run with times of 13:44.81 and 15:04.19, respectively. Baylee Woody and Haven Hatfield grabbed second and fourth place finishes in the women’s 100-meter hurdles with times of 18.25 seconds and 19.40 seconds. They also finished second and fourth in the women’s 300-meter hurdles with times of 55.79 and 57.48, respectively.
Middlesboro grabbed a second place finish in the 4×400-meter relay with a time of 4:43.75 and a first place finish in the 4×800-meter relay with a time of 11:14.24.
