Bell, Middlesboro, Pineville find success in Williamsburg

The Williamsburg All-Comers track meet was held March 26 at the University of the Cumberlands. Bell County, Middlesboro, Pineville, Knox Central, Lynn Camp, Corbin, Lynn Camp Middle, Oneida Baptist Institute Somerset Christian School, South Laurel, Whiteland Community High School, Whitley County, Williamsburg and Williamsburg Middle were all in attendance.

On the men’s side, Bell County’s London Stephney and Ashlund Dennis took second and third place in the men’s 100-meter dash with times of 11.76 seconds and 11.78 seconds, respectively. Middlesboro’s Alex Mason took fourth place in the event with a time of 11.86 seconds. Bobcat runner Jason Jones nabbed sixth place with a time of 12.00 seconds even in the event. Pineville’s Landon Couch rounded out the top-10, finishing in ninth place in the event with a time of 12.27 seconds.

In the men’s 200-meter dash, Bell County’s Dennis took first place with a time of 24.17 seconds. He was closely followed by Middlesboro’s Mason and Josh Overbay with times of 24.28 seconds and 24.91 seconds, respectively. Bell County’s Jones rounded out the top six for the event finishing in sixth place with a time of 25.45 seconds.

In the men’s 400-meter dash, Middlesboro senior Steven Poore took the top spot with a time of 56.85 seconds. Bell County’s Isaac Eldridge took third, with a time of 57.97 seconds.

In the men’s 800-meter run, Bell County eighth-grader Caden Miracle took third place with a time of 2:16.48. Middlesboro’s Junior Arrieta rounded out the top-10 with a ninth-place finish with a time of 2:20.86.

The Bobcats had two finishes inside the top-10 of the 1600-meter run. Miracle took third with a time of 4:54.14 and Andrew Caldwell grabbed a ninth place finish with a time of 5:07.22. Middlesboro’s Ozzy Norris finished third in the men’s 3200-meter run, with a time of 12:10.58.

Bell County also had two runner finish inside the top-four of the men’s 110-meter hurdles, with Cody Brannon and Marcus Chaney taking third and fourth place, respectively. Brannon also dominated the 300-meter hurdles, taking first place with a time of 45.87.

In the men’s team events, Bell County took third place in the 4×100-meter relay with a time of 47.45, followed by Middlesboro in fourth place with a time of 47.63. Middlesboro grabbed the top spots in the 4×200-meter relay, as well as the 4×400 meter relay with times of 1:37.81 and 4:00.24, respectively. Pineville grabbed the second spot in the 4×400-meter relay with a time of 4:07.00.

In the men’s 4×800-meter relay, Pineville grabbed the fourth spot with a time of 9:22.60 and Middlesboro secured a fifth place finish with a time of 9:40.30.

Middlesboro’s Poore took third place in the high jump, with a height of five feet, six inches. Pineville’s Couch and Cameron Fuson took fifth and sixth place with heights of five feet two inches and five feet, respectively. In the long jump, Pineville’s Fuson took third with a distance of 18 feet and one and a half inches. Bell County’s Eldridge rounded out the top-5 with a fifth place finish with a distance of 17 feet and eight and a half inches.

Fuson also took third in the triple jump, with a total distance of 36 feet and seven inches. Bell County’s Brant Hoskins took fifth place with distances of 33 feet and six inches, while Middlesboro’s Eric Helton took sixth with distances of 33 feet and three and three quarter inches.

In men’s shot put, Bell County’s Hunter Bailey took fourth place with a throw of 38 feet and five inches. Middlesboro’s Rayshawn Patterson-Graves took fifth place with a throw of 37 feet and 2 1/2 inches.

In the women’s 100-meter dash, Middlesboro’s Kayla James took first place with a time of 14.28 seconds. She was followed by Bell County’s Lenia Miracle who took home second with a time of 14.30 seconds. James also took first place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 30.04 seconds. Pineville’s Caeley Helton took third in the event with a time of 30.85 seconds.

Middlesboro’s Mallory James took second place in the 1600-meter run with a time of 6:00.29. Middlesboro dominated 3200-meter run with James taking first place with a time of 13:27.79 and Emery Glover finishing second place with a time of 15:00.35.

Middlesboro’s Baylee Woody and Haven Hatfield took third and fourth place, respectively, in the 100-meter hurdles with times of 19.30 seconds and 19.72 seconds.

In team events, Middlesboro took a fifth place finish in the 4×100-meter relay with a time of 59.33 and second in the 4×200-meter relay with a time of 2:02.03.

Pineville’s Faith Long took first place in the women’s shot put with a distance of 29 feet and three inches, as well as finishing fifth in the discus throw, with a distance of 66 feet and seven inches.
