Cumberland Gap and Middlesboro met March 29 at Cumberland Gap High School. The now 6-6 Panthers have been playing well. Despite going up against some of the top teams of the Blue Ridge Athletic Conference, they have held their own. The Yellow Jacket game was a non-conference game, but they wanted the win over their neighbors to the north.

The Panthers played well and by the top of the sixth inning broke a 1-1 tie and held a 3-1 advantage. Cumberland Gap then added four more runs before enduring a rain shower. The Panthers won the game by the final score of 7-1.

At the plate for the Panthers, Brady Pearman and Ethan Ramsey both had RBIs. On the mound it was Jeremiah Cannon and Noah Robertson. Cannon pitched five innings with five strikeouts and Robertson two innings with three strikeouts.

Harris led the Jackets on the mound with four strikeouts. At the plate it was Shawn North with two hits. Stephen Justice and Braden Ausmus also had key singles. Ausmus had the sole RBI for the visiting Jackets. They actually out hit the Panthers 5-4, but a two-run fifth inning and a four-run sixth inning was what gave the Panthers the advantage for the win.

The Panthers will now prepare for home and away games versus West Greene and Gatlinburg-Pittman during the first part of April.
