Lone Jack School Center Family Resource Youth Service Center Coordinator Sheila Fuson and Melanie Mills, library media specialist and literacy facilitator, hosted Early Bird Reading with preschool- through third-grades. Parents, guardians and relatives were invited to come and read Dr. Seuss books with their children in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday and to participate in the Read Across America celebration.

Door prizes were also given away and presented to the winner. Here, Candy Partin, grandmother, reads “Horton Hears a Who!” to her three grandchildren, Cooper Epley (second grade), Alex Partin (first grade) and Audriana Partin (third grade) during Lone Jack’s Early Bird Reading event in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday and the Read Across America celebration.

Hayden Saunders, second grade, listens to his mom, Jamie Saunders, read “Oh the Places You’ll Go.”
