Main Street Pineville Director Jacob Roan gave the Pineville City Council an update on events coming up that the entire community can enjoy.

“I want to start by saying for the fourth year in a row that we are nationally certified through the Main Street Community again,” Roan said.

Roan wanted to encourage everyone in the community to come out and participate in Saturday’s Shamrock Shuffle 5K.

“It is being presented by Main Street Pineville and Champion Physical Therapy, which is now CORA Physical Therapy. The proceeds from this will benefit Main Street Pineville. I encourage people to get registered now, and you’ll save $10 if you register online by Friday or you can contact me to register for that 5K.”

The event will begin at 10 a.m. at the Bell Theater and will end with a block party downtown.

Roan also discussed one of the biggest events to come to Bell County in a long time, and he wanted to explain more about them to the council members.

“We announced at the Gala and put tickets on sale for the Laurel Cove Music Festival,” said Roan.

The music festival will be the first of its kind to take place in Bell County. It’s a two-day music event with over 15 bands, and Main Street Pineville is partnering with Bell County Tourism Commission to make the festival happen.

“I can’t say enough about the work that (Bell County Tourism Director) Jon Grace has done on this event,” Roan said. “He has booked every band, and he keeps in tune with Americana and upcoming country music artists that people must really love because when we put the tickets on sale, within an hour over 100 tickets had sold. We are up to around 300 tickets sold right now.”

The Laurel Cove venue only holds around 1,400.

“We expect that to sell out,” he said. “We are already making plans for next year to take it up a notch, but it’s going to be a really cool event on June 7 and 8. That’s a Friday and Saturday.”
