Students at the J. Frank White Academy on the campus of Lincoln Memorial University joined other students around the country in participating in events during National School Choice Week, January 20-26.
National School Choice Week has raised awareness about the different educational opportunities available to children and families. Since its inception in 2011, information on traditional public schools to public charter schools, public magnet schools, online academics, private schools, and homeschooling has been made available to families.
The goal is to make it easy for families to find out what their options are and for great schools of all types to celebrate their strengths.
The J. Frank White Academy is a private coeducational college preparatory school located on the LMU campus and serves students in grades 4-12 from Claiborne, Union, Campbell and Hancock counties in Tennessee; Bell County, Kentucky; and Lee County, Virginia. In August 2019, the J. Frank White Academy will also serve students in grades K-3.
More than 40,000 events were planned across America for National School Choice Week, with 821 events being held in Kentucky.
The events and activities were everything from open houses at schools to homeschool information sessions, school fairs, parent nights, school tours and talent shows.
